Our Curriculum

“Educators’ professional judgements are central to their active role in facilitating children’s learning.” EYLF V2.0

At Norwood Community Crèche the educators intentionally weave their professional knowledge and skills into the curriculum. Educators build on the children’s knowledge, engage in interaction and discussion to negotiate and build meaning with others.

Educators provide a well planned environment with meaningful experiences which leads to an environment as a “third teacher”.

Our use of documentation helps children learn about and become aware of their processes for learning, this is important because when children understand the learning process, they can be more motivated to continue with learning activities. The use of documentation by educators also enables greater understanding of and responsiveness to individual children's learning.

Educators understand the Early Years Learning Framework, V2.O Belonging, Being & Becoming.

We use the EYLF in our daily “Learning Experiences” write ups, Individual Learning Plans, reflect on the children’s learning and critical reflection. It is an important and vital document for educators to effectively plan their curriculum and for their pedagogy.

The Framework provides broad direction for early childhood educators to facilitate all children’s learning, development and wellbeing and ensure children are supported.

Our curriculum relates to all interactions, experiences, routines and events, planned and unplanned, that occur in our environment designed to foster learning, development and wellbeing. Children are receptive to a wide range of experiences.

The Framework guides educators in their professional decision making and we will continue to read and reread this document as it assists us in our planning, implementing and evaluating our programs and practices in our centre.

We will continue to be inspired, to have professional conversations, improve communication, interact with families and reach out to our local communities to build our knowledge.

We will continue to work towards embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture into our centre and have reached out for support from Lady Gowrie Inclusion Agency.

We will revisit our Centre’s philosophy as a collective, Staff, Management Committee and families, allowing all groups to contribute, encompassing everyone to ensure a truly holistic approach.

Safety and supervision will remain one of our high priorities and with the Nominated Supervisors maintaining professional development and sharing of knowlege all Norwood Community Crèche staff will further develop their understanding and embed safe practices within the centre.

We will continue to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and sustainability into our principles and Responsiveness to children into our practices.
